How PM&DC Calculates MDCAT Aggregate for MBBS & BDS Admissions

Under the statutory regulations framed by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC), admission to all public and private medical colleges across Pakistan (governed by UHS Lahore, DUHS Karachi, KMU Peshawar, SZABMU Islamabad, and BUMHS Quetta) is determined strictly on the basis of a centralized weighted aggregate.

Component 1

Matric / SSC (10%)

Calculated as (Matric Marks / Total Marks) × 10. If you scored 1020/1100, your contribution is 9.27%.

Component 2

FSc Pre-Medical (40%)

Calculated as (FSc Marks / Total Marks) × 40. A score of 1000/1100 contributes 36.36% toward your aggregate.

Component 3

MDCAT Exam (50%)

Calculated as (MDCAT Score / Total Score) × 50. A score of 162/180 yields 45.00%. This is the single highest-weight factor!

Frequently Asked Questions: MDCAT Aggregate & Admissions

What is the minimum percentage required in FSc to apply for MBBS or BDS?

Candidates must have achieved a minimum of 60% marks in FSc Pre-Medical (HSSC) or an equivalent A-Level qualification with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics/Mathematics to be eligible for public or private medical college admission.

What is the official PM&DC passing threshold for MDCAT 2026?

The PM&DC qualifying passing marks are 55% (99 out of 180 marks) for MBBS admission, and 50% (90 out of 180 marks) for BDS admission. Scoring below this threshold disqualifies a candidate from both public and private admissions.

How are merit ties resolved if two students have the exact same aggregate?

Under PM&DC regulations, if two or more candidates have identical aggregate scores: (1) The candidate with the higher score in MDCAT is placed higher; (2) If still tied, the candidate with higher marks in FSc Pre-Medical is placed higher; (3) If still tied, the candidate who is older in age is placed higher.
